On and on . . .

The second weekend of Fully Committed is under way. Last night was sold out, and it looks like tonight will be the same! The local paper had some nice things to say: "a sharply acted production" and "a head-long rush." More extra curtain calls, more standing ovations . . . we could get used to this.

I have given up, for the time being, learning how to use "Sketch-Up." So I'm playing around with making a white model of the set for Mauritius. Still rough, but I can see things in three dimensions now.

Well, it's a start.

Next week, I go looking for furniture and props. Anyone know where I can get a used counter, used shelving, other used retail equipment? Probably not . . . I'm going to have to build it. It's fun to imagine all of the things that are going to happen in this space.

Two weekends to go!

The first weekend of "Fully Committed" is finished, and audiences love it. The only real problem about the production was voiced by someone after the show. She said to me: "This is a fantastic show - why aren't all the seats filled?" I don't know. Let's hope the next two weekends will make up for it.

Someone posted the following on a list-serve in Norwich. (I'm not going to post her full name or other information.)

My husband and I saw "Fully Committed" last night at Shaker Bridge Theatre in Enfield, NH. It was a one man show, fast paced, zany, well written, in a word: excellent! I laughed for the entire 70 minutes of uninterrupted dialogue. It's one of the funniest shows I have ever seen and the young man who played 33 different people did an awesome job! The show runs December 3 - 19th. The number to call for reservations is: 603.448.3750. I'm considering seeing it again! - Betsy.

So on we go, hoping that the word gets out. (And by the way, it's actually 37 characters!)

Now that this one is up and running, I can dedicate a lot more time to working on the next show. The whole cast will be getting together during the last week of the month for our first "table-read." I'm pretty excited about that, and ready to get going. I've started doing some preliminary (read - "rough and simplistic") design work for the set.

The next step is to either make a 3-d model (matte-board, foam board, etc.) or finish teaching myself to use "sketch-up" - a three dimensional CAD program that is really amazing and far beyond my present capabilities. I'm old enough to admit that when I was taking design courses in various graduate school programs, there were no CAD programs. Just matte board, xacto knives and white glue. Those learning curves get steeper and steeper, and there are fewer handholds to be found.

Fully Committed opens!

It's opening night for Fully Committed. We had a preview performance last night, and two of the people in the audience said it was a "tour-de-force" performance. Cool.

Have to remember to keep bottles of water on stage and back stage for Jonathan. It is a thirst-inducing effort for him.  We have to take good care of that voice.
